Steven's Letter to the Parish
I hope all of you had a blessed Labor Day weekend!
In case you were away this past weekend, Steven had written a letter to the parish which was included in the bulletin. I'm attaching the letter below for anyone who missed it.
God bless you,
Dear My St. Mary’s Family,
As you have been made aware this weekend after a lot of time and consideration, I have decided to step away from my role at St. Mary’s. While the decision ultimately resulted from professional differences, Fr. Derek and I desire the best for St. Mary’s and believe that parting ways will bear the most fruit at this time. I wish him and the parish all the best as St. Mary’s continues into the future. St. Mary’s has truly been a second home for me and so many of you have made such a great impact on my life. It was an honor to be able to share some of my biggest life events with you all: getting engaged, married, buying a home, and being able to start my doctorate. It was such a pleasure to share the joy that each of these events brought to my family with you all. The fundamental beauty about my job is that I was able to walk with people of all generations as they journeyed closer to Christ, but in doing so I was provided with the great gift of seeing God actively working in each and everyone of you. God is doing some amazing work at St. Mary’s and I look forward to seeing how his hand keeps moving the parish forward. I greatly appreciated the opportunity to assist in building such a vibrant and caring community. My time at St. Mary’s has greatly informed my understanding of parish life as well as strengthened my ability to more effectively lead others to Christ. The skills and talents that I acquired during my time at St. Mary’s will assist me in continuing to build up the Church in my future endeavors. Words cannot express the deep gratitude I hold for each and everyone of you, but I do want to thank you all for the laughs, friendships, and assistance you have offered me the last five years. I have been truly blessed to be surrounded by so many amazing people here, and I am so lucky I have been a part of this remarkable community. You all will be greatly missed and forever in my prayers.
